Listening & downloads
How do I download audio so it works offline?
Open any chapter and tap Listen. The audio for that book downloads the first time you play it and stays on your phone, so it plays offline after that. You only download what you listen to, which keeps the app small.
To load up before a flight or a long drive, play a few seconds from each book you want while you're on Wi-Fi. Audio for a whole book is usually a few tens of megabytes. You can see what's stored, and remove it, under More › Settings › Manage downloaded audio. More on offline listening.
Which translations have narration?
The World English Bible (WEB), the King James Version (KJV), and the American Standard Version (ASV) are fully narrated, every chapter of every book. The other 35 translations are text only. If you're reading a text-only translation and tap Listen, the app narrates the matching chapter from your audio translation (WEB by default) and lets you read along.
How do I change the narrator?
Open More › Settings › Narrator. Grace is free for everyone. Michael, Emma, and George are part of Plus. You can preview each voice before choosing.
Can I change the speed or set a sleep timer?
Yes. On the player, tap the speed button to choose anything from 0.5x to 2x. The sleep timer (Plus) stops playback after a set time or at the end of the chapter, which is handy for falling asleep to the Psalms.
Does it keep playing with the screen off?
Yes. Lock your phone or switch to another app and narration keeps going. You can control it from the Lock Screen, Control Center, AirPods, and CarPlay.
CarPlay
How do I set up CarPlay?
- Install Bible for Me on your iPhone and open it once.
- Connect your phone to your car with a cable or wireless CarPlay, as you normally would.
- Bible for Me appears on the CarPlay home screen. Tap it.
- Tap Continue to pick up where you left off, or Browse to choose a book and chapter.
Playback controls, including play, pause, skip, and speed, are on the Now Playing screen and on your steering wheel buttons. CarPlay is free for everyone, with the Grace narrator. Plus adds the other three voices in the car too. Full CarPlay guide.
Bible for Me doesn't show up in CarPlay
Open the Settings app on your iPhone, go to General › CarPlay, tap your car, and check that Bible for Me is enabled in the list of apps. If it's missing entirely, make sure the app has been opened at least once on the phone and that your iPhone is on iOS 18 or later.
Plus & billing
What is Bible for Me Plus?
Plus is the optional upgrade. It unlocks all four narrators (in the app and in CarPlay), all twelve reader themes, the sleep timer, unlimited verse memorization, the giving tracker, answered-prayer tracking, and alternate app icons. Everything else, including reading, narrated audio with Grace, all 38 translations, reading plans, devotionals, highlights, notes, and streaks, is free forever.
How much does Plus cost?
$7.99 a month, $39.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, or $99.99 once for lifetime access. Prices are in US dollars and may vary by country. All purchases go through Apple.
Will I be charged during the free trial?
No. The 7-day trial is free. In the app you can turn on Notify me before my trial ends and we'll remind you on day 5. If you cancel before day 7, you're never charged.
How do I cancel my subscription?
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone (not Bible for Me).
- Tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions.
- Tap Bible for Me, then Cancel Subscription.
You keep Plus until the end of the period you've already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. A lifetime purchase never renews and never needs cancelling.
How do I restore Plus on a new phone?
Open More › Settings and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple Account you used to buy Plus. It usually takes a few seconds. If Plus still doesn't come back, email us with the date of purchase and we'll sort it out.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple, not by us, so we can't issue one directly. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, find Bible for Me, and choose Request a refund. Apple usually replies within a day or two.
Reading & study
How do I switch translations?
Tap the translation badge (for example WEB) at the top of the reader, or go to More › Settings › Translation. All 38 translations are built into the app and work offline. See the full list of translations and languages.
How do highlights and notes work?
Press and hold any verse, or tap it, to open the verse bar. Pick a highlight color, add a note, copy, share, or listen from that verse. Your highlights and notes are saved on your phone and backed up to your own iCloud.
What is word study?
Tap Study on any verse to see the original Hebrew or Greek behind key words, with Strong's definitions and cross-references to other verses. It works in every translation.
How do reading plans and streaks work?
Choose a plan from Today › Browse all. Each day shows the passages to read and a short devotional. Finishing a day keeps your streak going. Grace days mean that missing one morning won't reset it. There are 50 plans, from 3 days to two years. Browse all reading plans.
Can I change the font size or page style?
Tap AA in the reader to adjust text size. In Settings › Page style you can choose page-turn or scroll. Themes are under Settings › Theme.
Your data & iCloud
Where are my highlights, notes, and prayers stored?
On your iPhone, and in your own private iCloud if iCloud backup is on (it is by default). There is no account and we never see your content. Read the privacy policy.
I got a new phone. How do I get everything back?
Install Bible for Me, make sure you're signed in to the same iCloud account, and open the app. Your highlights, notes, prayers, plans, and streak restore automatically within a minute or so. Then tap Restore Purchases in Settings if you had Plus.
How do I delete my data?
Deleting the app removes everything stored on the phone. To remove the iCloud copy too, open the Settings app, tap your name, then iCloud › Manage Account Storage, find Bible for Me, and delete its data.
Contact us
Email [email protected] and we'll reply as soon as we can, usually within a day. You can also send feedback from inside the app on the More tab, which opens a pre-addressed email with your app version filled in.
